Machining Engineer

Responsible for developing executable machining processes and supporting shop floor activities, provides support to operations team, develops and improves manufacturing/machining processes by studying product and manufacturing methods, creates and modifies CNC programs for machining processes, as well as design fixtures and tooling for operations, manufacturing processes and material handling, determines calculations and design for new equipment and process improvement, creates and maintain technical drawings for processes, tooling, and fixtures to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process
• Evaluate, support, develop and improve manufacturing processes
• Document and continuously audit the machining manufacturing process to ensure that all appropriate disciplines are in place and being followed.
• Work closely with members of manufacturing and quality to support targets for quality, cost, and delivery
• Drive machining processes to decrease scrap and increase productivity
• Assist in the analysis of workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Support the team in providing shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues and individually support all areas of the manufacturing process as needed.
• Advise operators on production methods and quality control systems. Programming CNC machines in accordance with customer specifications as needed to meet this objective.
• Review processes and compose necessary work instructions
• Investigate and analyze data to identify root cause of defects and implement appropriate countermeasures
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company
• Preparation of technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Technology
• 3-5+ years of Engineering experience within a machining department
• Willingness and ability to other plants as needed
