Lead Telecom Engineer (Avaya)

Location: Eugene, OR or Vancouver, WA

Compensation: $124,000 – $166,400 per year

Type: Long‑term contract (1‑year rolling)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time

We are hiring a Lead Telecom Engineer to provide senior‑level technical leadership for enterprise Avaya voice and contact center platforms supporting hospitals, clinics, call centers, and administrative operations. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and modernization of mission‑critical voice systems in a 24/7 healthcare environment.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the highest‑level technical escalation point for complex voice incidents and outages
• Own the architecture, stability, and modernization of enterprise Avaya voice and contact center platforms
• Design, support, and optimize SIP and VoIP environments, including media gateways and endpoints
• Lead initiatives related to cloud and hybrid migrations from on‑prem data centers
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and security of voice systems used for clinical and patient access workflows
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to telecom staff

Required Experience

• 3 or more years of hands‑on Avaya engineering experience in an enterprise environment
• Strong expertise with Avaya Aura Communication Manager, Session Manager, and System Manager
• Deep knowledge of SIP, VoIP, telephony protocols, and voice network design
• Experience supporting mission‑critical voice systems in 24/7 environments
• Proven background designing secure voice architectures, including SBCs, QoS, and network segmentation
• Demonstrated experience migrating voice platforms from on‑prem data centers to cloud or hybrid environments

Nice to Have

• Healthcare or hospital telecom experience across multiple sites
• Avaya certifications such as CM, ACIS, or ACSS
• Experience leading telecom modernization or large‑scale migration initiatives
• Familiarity with Vocera devices

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
