The Parks Event Coordinator position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for coordinating customer service, permitting, reservations, contracts, and administrative processes associated with special events, facility rentals, and public use of parks and recreation venues. Serves as the primary liaison between customers, community organizations, event organizers, City departments, and external agencies to facilitate successful events and community engagement opportunities. Coordinates department-sponsored events and public participation opportunities as resources allow.
Works is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over parks event personnel.
Interfaces with constituents, community members, and prospective clients to assess needs and match them with appropriate park venues
This position involves indoor and outdoor work with exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazards. This is a primary driver position and will be expected to operate a city vehicle.
Must be available to work on some nights and weekends, and availability to troubleshoot after-hours calls

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Business Administration, Event Management, or a closely related field.
Four (4) years of experience in the planning, logistics, and coordination of large-scale events.
Two (2) years of supervisory experience overseeing event staff.
Experience issuing permits for large-scale events.
Knowledge of and experience with sound and lighting systems
