Job Description

Salary: $105,000 - 135,000 per year Requirements:

  • We prefer a bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; Civil Engineering or Geosciences may also be considered based on relevant experience.
  • We prefer familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • We prefer supervisory experience in open pit mining.
  • We prefer experience with Surpac mining software and AutoCAD.
  • We require, or expect the willingness to obtain, FAA Part 107 sUAS drone pilot certification.
  • We prefer surveying knowledge.
  • We need proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • We value a highly organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple active projects at once.
  • We seek someone with a flexible mindset who can adapt to changing priorities and ambiguous situations.
  • We need excellent interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • We expect sound judgment and strong problem-solving ability.
  • The role requires the physical ability to walk long distances, stoop, crawl into confined spaces, and climb on equipment during field supervision.
  • We need someone able to work on uneven, slippery, or challenging terrain, including stairs, ladders, and stockpiles up to 400 feet in elevation, and in hot, cold, or high-altitude environments.
  • The position requires the ability to drive to multiple plant and work locations.
  • We require the ability to travel overnight by air or vehicle.
  • We require the successful candidate to complete a post-offer physical exam, drug and alcohol screening, and background check.
  • Some roles may also require ongoing FMCSA-regulated drug and alcohol testing.
Responsibilities:
  • We support our Mining Group by contributing to mine engineering and mining operations in a broad capacity.
  • We assist with mine engineering and mine planning activities.
  • We learn and apply our company policies and safety procedures to help maintain a safe workplace.
  • We collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver corporate mining projects.
  • We build knowledge of cement and aggregate manufacturing to improve mining efficiency and understand how plant chemistry affects mineral needs and reserves.
  • We estimate mineral deposits and help develop effective life-of-mine designs.
  • We create and update one-year, five-year, and life-of-mine plans using Surpac and MineSched.
  • We oversee projects such as exploratory drilling and rock mechanics studies.
  • We analyze mining operations to improve equipment utilization and overall operational performance.
  • We carry out surveying and plant inventory work using tools such as GPS, drones, and total stations.
  • We work with plant teams, corporate staff, and contractors as needed.
  • We conduct exploration activities at prospects and new mining locations.
  • We partner with our environmental team to keep mining operations compliant with local and federal requirements.
  • We operate remote drones for aerial survey work as a commercial drone pilot.
