About American Insulated Panel

American Insulated Panel (AIP) is a specialty contractor and manufacturer based in Taunton, Massachusetts. Since 1989, we have designed, fabricated, and installed insulated metal panel systems for commercial and industrial cold storage applications — serving convenience store chains, grocery and supermarket operators, food and beverage processors, pharmaceutical facilities, and large-format cold storage warehouses.

What separates AIP from the rest of the market is that we are both the manufacturer and the installer. We build the product and we put it in — which gives our team a level of technical ownership and quality control that a distributor or subcontractor simply cannot offer.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to own the front end of our project pipeline — from first customer contact through signed contract and clean handoff to our installation team.

The work ranges widely. A customer might call because a door handle is broken and they need a replacement sourced and quoted the same day. Or they might be a convenience store operator expanding into six new locations and need someone to scope, price, and sequence insulated panel systems for all of them. Or a warehouse developer needs help designing a cold storage facility from the ground up. In every case, the job is the same: understand the problem, develop the right solution, produce an accurate estimate, and get it to contract.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Scope Development

• Review architectural drawings, construction documents, and project specifications to develop complete material takeoffs and project scopes
• Conduct pre-quote site visits to assess existing conditions, confirm scope, and identify installation constraints that affect pricing
• Prepare detailed project quotations using AIP's estimating process and pricing tools, covering manufactured panel systems, distributed products (glass display doors, hardware, refrigeration components), and installation
• Respond to RFQs and bid invitations; manage bid calendars and pricing deadlines across concurrent opportunities

Customer & Account Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound inquiries from end users, general contractors, refrigeration subcontractors, and facility operators — from initial scope discussion through signed order
• Guide customers through product selection and system design, including R-value requirements, panel specifications, door systems, and cold room construction approaches
• Manage an established book of active accounts across AIP’s core verticals: convenience store, grocery and liquor retail, food and beverage processing, and large-format cold storage
• Re-engage lapsed accounts and identify scope expansion opportunities within the existing customer base

Project Handoff & Commercial Continuity

• Deliver a thorough, accurate project handoff to AIP’s installation team so projects start right — clear scope, confirmed material, documented customer expectations
• Remain the commercial point of contact post-sale: manage change orders, address scope adjustments, and handle any contract or pricing conversations that arise during installation
• Navigate construction contracts, lien waivers, and subcontractor agreements with enough fluency to protect AIP’s position and keep projects on track

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrated experience in commercial construction, specialty contracting, or a related construction product environment
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction plans, and project specifications
• Working knowledge of commercial construction workflows: scope of work, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and contract basics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to hold a credible technical conversation with a GC, a refrigeration subcontractor, or a facility owner
• Organized and self-directed — capable of managing an active estimating pipeline and multiple concurrent project relationships

Preferred

• Direct experience with cold storage construction, walk-in cooler and freezer systems, insulated metal panel applications, or commercial refrigeration
• Familiarity with the convenience store, grocery, food service, or food distribution construction markets
• Existing relationships with contractors, facility managers, or developers active in the Northeast
• Background in a specialty trade contractor or building products manufacturer where estimating and customer-facing work overlapped
