Role Description

This is a contract, on-site role for an entry-level attorney located in Houston, TX. The attorney will support the legal team across all phases of case management, including conducting legal research, drafting and preparing legal documents, and communicating directly with clients via phone and in-person meetings. The role requires attendance at hearings, depositions, and mediations, with the potential for trial participation as cases progress. The attorney will assist senior attorneys with case strategy and trial preparation while also coordinating with paralegals to ensure timely completion of filings, discovery responses, and document production. Responsibilities include managing individual case files, tracking deadlines, negotiating settlements, and maintaining clear and consistent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff. The attorney will be expected to review and analyze opposing counsel's filings, prepare responses under tight deadlines, and draft motions, demand letters, and correspondence with minimal supervision. The role also involves maintaining detailed case notes and status updates, preparing clients for depositions and hearings, conducting intake interviews with prospective clients, and ensuring all work product meets the firm's standards for accuracy and thoroughness. The attorney must be prepared to manage a growing caseload, respond promptly to client inquiries, and adapt to shifting priorities as case demands require. The ideal candidate is a licensed member of the State Bar of Texas who demonstrates sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the firm.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school preferred; Master of Laws (LL.M.) acceptable
• Active membership in the State Bar of Texas required
• Working knowledge of civil litigation procedures, with exposure to labor and employment law preferred but not required
• Strong legal research and writing skills, including the ability to analyze case law, draft persuasive motions, and produce clear, well-organized legal memoranda
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Ability to absorb new areas of law quickly, apply feedback constructively, and grow through hands-on mentorship and increasing responsibility
• Capacity to manage competing deadlines across multiple cases without sacrificing attention to detail
• Experience or interest in insurance law, property litigation, or related practice areas is a plus
• Demonstrated integrity and accountability in all client interactions and legal matters
